My Story

Hi, I’m Amanda! I grew up in an Arab culture where mental health wasn’t something people talked about or addressed. I watched family members and friends struggle with mental illness, but it was brushed under the rug or treated like it wasn’t a big deal. And I saw how not addressing it can trickle into the lives of everyone around you, whether that’s family or friends.

I believe mental health is one of the most important parts of a person’s life, and I want to help break that cycle. I became a therapist to make a difference in people’s lives. During my one-year clinical internship, I worked one on one with clients of many different backgrounds, ages, genders, sexual orientations, cultures, and religious beliefs. It taught me that everyone’s experiences and needs are different, and it’s one of my favorite parts of this work: getting to meet people with different backgrounds, beliefs, and values.

My Area of Expertise

I’m skilled at making my clients feel comfortable and welcomed. The therapy room can feel a little intimidating sometimes, especially when you’re talking to someone new about the deepest parts of yourself. Being a safe space where you can truly explore yourself without limitations or hesitation has always been my biggest go-to.

People often come to me for life transitions, whether that’s a divorce, changing jobs, creating boundaries, school stress, or any change that brings on stress and anxiety. I also love working with adults navigating romantic relationships, teens navigating identity, school stress, and family expectations, and children and adults healing from trauma. I take time to understand your full story, not just the symptoms you’re dealing with now, but where they come from, so we can get to the root of the problem.

Therapy can be a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported without judgement. I strive to create a comfortable and welcoming environment where you can be yourself, work through challenges, build confidence, and develop healthy tools to navigate life’s ups and downs.

How I Approach Therapy

What's My Vibe

My approach to therapy is person-centered, compassionate, and nonjudgmental. I believe a strong therapeutic relationship starts with a safe and welcoming space where you feel heard, respected, and comfortable being your authentic self. In sessions, I meet you where you are, listen without judgment, and work with you to identify your goals and develop strategies that feel meaningful for your needs.

I see therapy as a team effort. Depending on what you need, I draw from approaches like CBT, DBT, IFS, Emotionally Focused Therapy, TF-CBT, and play therapy to help you understand yourself better and build healthy skills you can use both in and outside of the therapy room. I’m also honest that therapy isn’t a cure-all. It takes work, energy, and dedication and we’ll do that work together.

My style is laid-back, warm, and playful. It also depends on what you need, whether that’s in the moment or throughout our work together. Most importantly, I want you to feel heard, understood, and comfortable being your authentic self.
