My Story
Hi, I’m Andrea. I am a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida, Georgia, and Connecticut with over ten years in the mental health field. My journey into this work started with curiosity and slowly grew into a clear sense of purpose. I initially studied psychology as an undergraduate, unsure of exactly where it would lead, but over time I realized that social work aligned deeply with my values of dignity, respect, and meeting people without judgment. I believe everyone deserves support, especially during moments when life feels heavy or overwhelming.
I grew up in a community with a large Hispanic population, where I witnessed both the strength and the challenges that come with navigating cultural identity, family expectations, and systemic barriers. As someone from an immigrant family who experienced the process of acculturation firsthand, I developed an early awareness of how culture, environment, and lived experience shape mental health. These experiences continue to inform how I show up in my work today.
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with people across different cultures, ages, and life stages, both in community and clinical settings. Each experience has reinforced why I chose this path and strengthened my commitment to creating a supportive, respectful space where clients feel understood, valued, and empowered to grow.
My Area of Expertise
Trauma work is at the core of my practice. I understand how trauma shapes the way we see ourselves, relate to others, and move through the world. My training in EMDR and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has deepened my understanding of how trauma impacts both individuals and the systems around them, and I bring this lens into my work with every client I support.
I work closely with young adults and college-aged clients who carry trauma histories, anxiety, and challenges around self-esteem. I also support members of the LGBTQ+ community and Hispanic clients navigating multigenerational values, cultural expectations, and identity. My experience working with diverse trauma experiences allows me to meet clients where they are, honoring their story while helping them build safety, clarity, and resilience.
If we work together, I will always start where you are. I believe in open communication and collaboration, and we’ll work together to focus on what matters most to you and the goals you want to move toward.
How I Approach Therapy
What's My Vibe
My approach to therapy is collaborative and grounded in meeting you where you are. I begin with a client-centered foundation, then integrate skill-building using CBT and DBT strategies to support emotional regulation and coping. I also work from the belief that emotions live in the body, which is why I incorporate somatic awareness and EMDR-informed skills to help build confidence and connection.
Throughout our work together, I check in regularly to make sure we’re focused on goals that feel meaningful and aligned with what you want from therapy.
I’m soft-spoken and calm, but I’m also comfortable being gently assertive and directive when it’s needed. I see myself as a guide walking alongside you, helping you navigate where you want to go at your own pace. Sessions with me can be light or more serious depending on what you need that day, and I’m always open to meeting you in the moment.
