Grief Counseling

Take Your Time, and Give Yourself Room To Heal.

Experiencing loss can be an incredibly difficult and overwhelming experience, one that no amount of time can heal overnight. This can be losing a loved one, the end of a relationship, or any other life-changing event. Grief can be complicated. It can be its own unique, painful experience or it can stem from trauma that happened in the past.

Perhaps, your symptoms of grief have become overwhelming or are preventing you from functioning in your day-to-day life. You’re tired of feeling stuck in your grief and want to heal. However, you want to move past the pain. Maybe you’re not completely ready to dig deep into the pain, but still want to figure out how to cope so you can move forward. You just want to process and express your emotions in a healthy way.

Why Someone Might Seek Grief Counseling

Grief is often complex as it can stem from trauma, the death of a loved one, or any other life-changing event. Thus, leading it to manifest in many different ways. Also allowing it to be difficult to process and understand. This can make it difficult to find the right words to express and work through these emotions. For an adult, young adult, teen, or even a child, grief counseling can help the individual cope with the pain, work through it in a healthy way and eventually move through the healing process. These are just a few reasons why someone might seek out grief counseling.

Other reasons may include:

  • Feeling overwhelmed and can’t seem to manage your emotions.
  • Having difficulty getting out of bed, functioning in daily life.
  • Feeling lost after the death of a loved one or the end of a relationship.
  • Wanting to talk through your emotions with a counselor who is both knowledgeable and understanding.
  • Trying to find healthy ways to cope and process your emotions.
  • Heal and move past your pain.
  • Address the negative and unhealthy coping strategies you’ve developed.

At The Comfy Place, we want to help you feel better. Our counselors understand that healing looks different for everyone after trauma and loss. We want to help you understand that it’s okay to take your time and give yourself enough room to heal. Our goal is to help you reach a level of peace and acceptance. Our Grief Counselors Want to Help You Heal and Move Forward

Maybe you don’t want to dig deeply into the pain the grief has caused you just yet. That’s okay! At The Comfy Place, we strive to create a warm, safe environment where you can feel comfortable sharing as much or as little of your grief journey with us. If you’re not ready to address the underlying trauma that may be causing your grief or you’re simply looking for healthy coping strategies, we are here to help. Our Approach to Grief Counseling

At The Comfy Place, we understand how overwhelming and devastating grief can be. No matter what you come here for, therapy is never one-size-fits all. Our counselors know that healing looks different for every individual and so should their counseling approach. We strive to provide an accepting environment where you can feel comfortable enough to share your grief journey with us in a way that works for you. However, it is an individualized experience that has to be addressed independently.

Our approach when it comes to healing and grief is different. This is because we utilize play therapy and sandtray approaches with both kids and adults. We also utilize more intensive approaches like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Brainspotting with both adults and kids. Our team wants therapy to not only help individuals heal and allow them to express their emotions but we want to take some of the fear and dread out of the process. So, we strive to make therapy more accessible and want it to feel like a safe space for you to be yourself and to heal.
